Moonbeam “Beams Up” New Municipal Finance Software

The Township of Moonbeam recently made the change from three different software programs to one integrated, robust software system.

March 16, 2011  Canada, BC, Kelowna - In an effort to improve reporting functionality and upgrade their financial software system, the Township of Moonbeam has “beamed up” Vadim’s iCity software.

Previously, Moonbeam was using three different software programs to run their Township. With Vadim, all the applications they require are in one system.

Carole Gendron, Clerk-Treasurer at Moonbeam, explains they are impressed with iCity’s reporting capabilities. Although reporting capabilities existed in their legacy system, they were not as extensive as iCity’s.

Carole also mentions they are excited to have access to software support and enhancements. With a portion of their previous financial system, they referred to user manuals for specific applications, as it was the only method of software support available.

When asked about what they’re most looking forward to about the change to Vadim, Carole responded “Everything”. The staff are anxious to start using the software and become more efficient.

Several years ago, the Township was approached to be a part of a group purchase with several northern communities but they knew they wanted their own software and to be independent.

The Township of Moonbeam purchased iCity General Ledger & Budgeting, Accounts Payable & Bank Reconciliation, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Property Taxation and Cash Receipting.

About the Township of Moonbeam [1]
The Township of Moonbeam got its name from old-time resident pioneers who often saw flashing lights which they called "moonbeams" falling from the sky near creeks and lakes. Moonbeam is situated near the Town of Kapuskasing, also a Vadim client. The Township is recognized by Remi Lake, a Provincial Park and a flying saucer landmark measuring 9 feet high and 18 feet in diameter. Their population of approximately 1,200 nearly triples in the summer months when visitors come to experience the lake.
