Greenstone Chooses Vadim/SaskTel Solution

Greenstone joins other former TDL users that have recently converted to Vadim’s iCity system.

July 22, 2010 Canada, BC, Kelowna – Long-time TDL (Top-Down Logic) client, the Municipality of Greenstone, ON, decided to purchase the Vadim system based on Vadim’s references and because they felt it was a natural progression from the TDL system.

Greenstone will use the SaskTel managed hosting solution, which offers quick setup without the large upfront costs associated in setting up and maintaining their own IT department.

“We have one office and four remote offices. The remote offices use modems and a dial-up connection, so we anticipate a cost savings there as well as time savings once we move to SaskTel,” says Lise Koroscil, Office Manager.

Not only will the Municipality realize time savings but also an increase in efficiency and productivity. Lise explains, “If an error appeared on our previous system, I would have to temporarily close down the affected applications and go into the background of the system to fix it, which would disrupt staff that were using the affected applications. Also, staff would have to issue manual receipts if someone came in to pay a bill. It just wasn’t efficient.

“Staff are happy that we’re moving from an old server and outdated system to a system with better reporting and more capabilities.”

Two Greenstone staff attended Vadim’s recent Northern Ontario Regional Meeting hosted by the City of Timmins in May. Lise comments, “We were able to see different aspects of the system, speak with other users and hear the questions and answers that were raised. Although we weren’t on the system at the time, it was worthwhile for us to attend the conference.”

Wendy Jarvis, Vadim General Manager, comments, “We value Greenstone’s loyalty and are glad to welcome them to the active and vibrant northern Ontario Vadim community.”

Greenstone joins other former TDL users that have recently converted to Vadim’s iCity system. In 2009, the Townships of Chisholm, WhiteWater Region, and Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan made the transition and in 2008 the Municipality of West Grey and Townships of Laurentian Valley, Black River-Matheson and Front of Yonge made the switch.

The Municipality of Greenstone purchased iCity’s General Ledger (including Budgeting), Accounts Payable (including Bank Reconciliation), Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Payroll, Human Resources, Property Taxation, Utility Billing, Cash Receipting, Building Permits, Pet Licences and VadimVIEW Report Writer.
