Familiarity with Software Leads to Purchase

The Strathcona Regional District, BC, chooses Vadim because of their familiarity with the software.

June 7, 2010  Canada, BC, Kelowna – In February 2008, the Comox Strathcona Regional District was split into two – the Strathcona Regional District in the Northern region, serving 43,000 customers and located in Campbell River, and the Comox Valley Regional District in the Southern region, located in Courtenay.

“The reason for the split was to provide a higher level of service to residents,” explains Dawn Christenson, Financial Services Manager. “Now the government is closer to the people.”

The former Comox Strathcona Regional District used Vadim Software for their financial software needs. Once the split took place, the financial records were then separated into two databases for the newly formed Regional Districts.

“Staff are familiar with the software, which provides a level of comfort. They already know how to use it,” says Dawn.

Previous to joining the Strathcona Regional District, Dawn was Project Manager for the City of Campbell River where she was in charge of moving the City’s software from their legacy system to Vadim. Armed with this prior experience and knowledge, she is repatriating the Strathcona Regional District’s Vadim system onto its own IT infrastructure.

With such a small office, the Strathcona Regional District has partnered with the City of Campbell River to use their IT services because of the breadth and depth of their knowledge. “I love it, because coming from the City I know the high expertise level of their IT services and that Vadim works well on their IT infrastructure.”
