Conference Contributes to Purchase of iCity

Functionality, integration and flexibility were the key factors that caused the Town of Kirkland Lake, ON, to reconsider its municipal financial system in late 2009.

April 30, 2010  Canada, BC, Kelowna – “The municipal environment today is very complex. Financial software has to be much more robust than it was in the past, but easier than ever to work with,” says Wilfred Hass, Director for the Town of Kirkland Lake. “We need more comprehensive reporting features, an easier to manage database back end and better tie-ins with third party software. Those needs lead us to Vadim's iCity financial suite.”

The Town of Kirkland Lake sent several staff members to Vadim’s 2009 Northern Ontario Users Conference/Regional Meeting in Timmins over the course of two days to learn about and really get a feel for the software as well as to talk to those that actually use the software on a daily basis. Soon after the conference, the Town made several on-site visits to Vadim clients in Northern Ontario and in August, Wendy Jarvis, Vadim General Manager, and Anthony Fleming, Regional Account Manager, visited Kirkland Lake for a demonstration of the software and an overview of the implementation services.

The Town then reviewed several software suites. Vadim best met the Town's requirements and in December 2009, the Town purchased Vadim's iCity suite. Other important factors that were considered in their decision included Vadim's reputation within the Northern Ontario client base and Vadim's commitment to investment in technology.

Wilfred explains, "We've been watching Vadim for the last 7 or 8 years and we like the fact that Vadim continues to evolve the product set."

Vadim’s relationship with the Town was also a contributing factor. “Anthony’s relationship with the Town and the personal touch he provides were very important to us,” Wilfred says. “We like the commitment that Vadim demonstrated by coming onsite.”
