Muskoka Chooses a Superior System

With a vision of their ideal software system and several specific objectives, Muskoka has chosen Vadim as their software and services provider.

September 8, 2009  Canada, BC, Kelowna – With the objective of obtaining greater reporting strength in their financial software system, better support and less risk as well as improved functionality in asset management, the District of Muskoka has chosen Vadim as their software and services provider. It was Muskoka’s vision to have a financial and asset management system that will be the right solution for the District and the local municipalities, with hosting services provided at the District offices.

Muskoka had outgrown their previous financial system, and their legacy maintenance management system was being supported internally. When asked about measurable cost savings they expect to see with Vadim, Stephen Cairns, Commissioner of Finance and Corporate Services, said “There will be a lot more productivity at the same dollar value as well as better turnaround times and quality of work.”

The two aspects of Vadim’s iCity software system that stood out the most to the District were financial statements/reporting and the Payroll application. “We know that Vadim has a great deal of municipal experience,” says Stephen.

Along with Vadim’s iCity software for their financial and municipal needs, the District purchased CarteGraph’s asset management software for their public works needs. They liked CarteGraph’s front-end interface and felt it was user friendly for use out in the field. Functionality, cost and acceptance by staff were the top three factors that influenced their decision to purchase. Since the staff’s acceptance of the new system was vital, the District’s staff broke into work groups where each group visited a different department during onsite visits they’d arranged with nearby municipalities who use both Vadim and a competitor’s product.

Commissioner Cairns and his team are looking forward to having their new system implemented this fall, the opportunity for internal business reviews and getting the most out of the Vadim system.

Of Vadim’s 34 years in business, this is one of the company’s largest sales in its history. David Burke, CEO of StarDyne Technologies, adds “This is another milestone in Vadim’s continued growth.”

Located two hours north of Toronto, the District Municipality of Muskoka, ON is comprised of six area municipalities: Town of Bracebridge, Township of Georgian Bay, Town of Gravenhurst, Town of Huntsville, Township of Lake of Bays, and the Township of Muskoka Lakes. Together, they serve a population of approximately 57,563 (as of 2006). The Township of Georgian Bay has been a Vadim client since 2003 and in May of 2009, the Town of Huntsville signed on with Vadim. You can view Huntsville’s press release, Talking Modules an Important Aspect of New System, here.

The remaining four municipalities within the District purchased iCity General Ledger, Budgeting, Financial Report Writer, Accounts Payable/Bank Reconciliation, Purchasing, Inventory, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Human Resources, Property Taxation, Utility Billing, Cash Receipting, Cemetery Management, AssetPLUS, Web Time Capture, VadimVIEW, CarteGraph and iBolt.
