Affordable Software that Grows With Your Municipality

Software that delivers flexibility, affordability and superior functionality

The Municipal District of Bighorn No.8, Alberta, nestled in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies, has chosen Vadim's iCity suite of Financial and Municipal applications.

The Municipality of Bighorn was recently faced with a big decision. Their current software provider was not able to provide support after December 31, 2008 so they had to choose a new software provider. Bighorn obtained a quote from Vadim and two other software vendors. Katherine Van Keimpema, Director of Finance, then did a comparison based on two key factors, product costs and features, and chose Vadim based on the analysis.

During the product demonstration, Darrell Webster, Regional Account Manager, stressed long term affordability and choosing software with superior functionality that can grow with the municipality. The Municipal District of Bighorn liked the idea of having a core financial software package and the flexibility of adding other modules as they require and as their municipality grows.

Unlike Vadim, other software providers may have size limitations of their software systems, which is an important long-term factor to consider.

Katherine states, “We are looking forward to working with Vadim through this process and are excited about the software!” Implementation is scheduled to start in early November.

In Western Alberta with a population of approximately 1,464, Bighorn is located west of Calgary and on both sides of Canmore from the Banff Park gates to Canmore’s western boundary, then again from Canmore’s eastern boundary to approximately 17 km west of Cochrane. The Municipal District (MD) of Bighorn is composed of rural areas and five hamlets: Dead Man’s Flats, Harvie Heights, Exshaw, Lac Des Arc, and Benchlands. Approximately half the population lives in the five hamlets while the remainder lives in the rural areas. The MD was incorporated as a self-governing jurisdiction in 1988. The major components of the local economy are mineral extraction and processing, oil and gas, logging, and agriculture. They purchased iCity General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Property Taxes, Cash Receipting and Utility Billing.
